Readers may have seen purple flags that have sprung up on lamp posts along the lake road, and around the town. These flags are promoting the 2010/11 UEFA European Women’s Under-17 Football Championship. The competition begins on the 28th July and ends with the final on the 31st and will be held at Colovray in Nyon. The four qualified teams in the final are France, Germany, Iceland and Spain. It promises to be an exciting final as the continent's most talented young female players descend on Nyon!
This year the ambassador of the final tournament is former Swiss national team player Patrick Müller. His former clubs include Servette FC Genève, Grasshoppers Club, Olympique Lyonnais and AS Monaco.
