From the 1st January this year (2018) the libraries in Nyon, Rolle and Gland are now free for residents! There is no charge to borrow books (both printed and electronic), music CDs and other items.
In Nyon, there is both an adult and a children's library in the town. Nyon's adult library is in Avenue Viollier 10 (opposite the Place Perdtemps car park) and the children's library is at Chemin de Crève-Coeur 3.
The adult library has a small but varied collection of books in English (on the top floor) which is refreshed on a regular basis. There is a quiet reading room on the ground floor of the library, with a coffee machine, and where you can read newspapers and journals and magazines on the premises. On other floors, there are desks to work, Wi-Fi, there's even a photocopying machine (note, you do not need to register to use the library's facilities, just to borrow the books etc).
Nyon council displays works of art on each floor of the library and there is a community notice board at the entrance which lists useful information on events happening in the town.
All three libraries hold regular events for readers, from workshops for children, to storytelling and lectures by published writers.
All you need to do to become a member of the library is to register for a Renouvaud card at the library of your choice. This card then entitles readers to borrow books from all three libraries in Nyon, Rolle and Gland.
