Nyon Flashmob Celebrates the Women Who Shape the City
What do you get when you bring Nyon’s women together, add a few dance steps and visit five familiar spots around town? A joyful flashmob celebrating the women who help shape the city.
A new dance video released by the City of Nyon celebrates the women who contribute to the city’s daily life and history. Filmed across five locations in one day, the flashmob brings together participants from different parts of the community.
The filming took place on 2 September 2026. Staff at Nyon Hospital got the day started, before the dancers moved on to Place des Lavandières, Alice Sauvin Park, Cossy and, finally, Nyon Castle. At each stop, participants learned a few steps before joining the group filming. The day ended with an apéritif at the castle.

Part of a wider project
The flashmob is part of “Par elles et par Nyon”, a programme led by the Ville de Nyon Social Cohesion Department to increase the visibility of women in public spaces and local history.
It was created ahead of the planned 2027 publication of Femmes de Nyon. De A à Z (Women of Nyon: From A to Z), a book celebrating women who have shaped the city. The filming locations also reflect this focus: Place des Lavandières and Alice Sauvin Park were named or renamed in 2025 in tribute to women from Nyon.
Dance teacher and choreographer Liliya Marsano developed and led the project with the Ville de Nyon and the Union des femmes de Nyon. She created the choreography, coordinated the locations and partners, and guided participants through the filming day.
They thanked everyone who took part, along with the partners and institutions who helped bring the project to life. It’s a fun way to celebrate the women behind Nyon’s everyday scenes and its history.
