If you have just arrived in the Nyon area, don't be alarmed if you hear the sounds of sirens across the town at 13:30. It is the annual siren test in Switzerland which takes place on the first Wednesday of every February. Here is the official explanation on the Swiss government website and here's a 2010 article by Swiss Info about this annual event However, we like this amusing little video posted on the Zurich town Facebook page It's their interpretation of how the siren sound is created. Spot the Swiss references:the Emmental cheese, the William Tell arrow, the Victorinox knife, the fondue fork, the Swiss coin etc. https://www.facebook.com/stadtzuerich/videos/vb.400555656659468/945978398783855/?type=2&theater
