MenoPower Day from Healthfirst: A Powerful Shift in the Menopause Conversation

Back in May, I had the privilege of attending HealthFirst’s MenoPower Day. An inaugral menopause awareness event dedicated to breaking the silence around menopause and giving women the tools, knowledge, and confidence they deserve. Held in Geneva, the day brought together experts, speakers, and women from all walks of life to learn, share, and connect.
It was honest, open and quite empowering. Menopause is so often a whispered topic, but here it was centre stage. Not something to hide or downplay, but something to understand, prepare for, and embrace with support.
What HealthFirst Brings to the Table
Founded in 2012, Healthfirst Initially aimed to serve the English-speaking community around Lake Geneva with top-quality first aid training and health education. Today, under the leadership of Dr. Michelle Wright and Dr. Mecky McNeil, it delivers evidence-based health promotion across Switzerland and beyond.
They offer a broad spectrum of services. From first aid and seminars for schools and companies, to mental health coaching and health screening assessments. Notably, Dr. Mecky, as Mental Health and Well-being Director, also brings her expertise being a certified health and performance coach to support those in menopause with holistic, lasting support.

Highlights from MenoPower Day
The closing messages from Dr. Michelle Wright and Dr. Mecky McNeil summed up the spirit of the day beautifully:
The science of menopause is clear: knowledge is power, and there is help available.
Movement, rest, and nutrition are not luxuries. They are foundations of health.
You’re not alone: what you're experiencing is real and valid.
You deserve to be heard. At work, at home, and in the doctor’s office.
We’re changing the conversation and replacing silence and stigma with shared understanding, community, and confidence.

Meanwhile, Liza Engel’s keynote also stood out:
“Many highly capable, ambitious women start questioning themselves thinking they’re losing their edge when, in reality, their bodies are just going through a natural transition. … That’s why I’m speaking at MenoPower. To share what I’ve learned and help women take back control instead of feeling like they’re losing their power.”
What Liza shared captured the personal impact of menopause while highlighting the importance of greater awareness and compassion.
A Growing Movement
The MenoPower Day wasn’t just a one-off event. HealthFirst is committed to continuing this work, with the next MenoPower event hopefully planned for Zurich on Saturday, 25 April 2026. They are also exploring the idea of creating a dedicated session for men; helping partners, colleagues, and family members better understand and support the women in their lives going through menopause. HealthFirst’s intentional programming; from sleep tips to mindful movement, is exactly the type of empowerment I believe in. As a menopause coach through The Hormone Harmony Network, attending MenoPower Day was more than inspiring, it reaffirmed that our shared voices and stories are powerful.
